Student Leadership University is a proud to provide training for the 2008 Christian School Student Leadership Conference. We feel it important to let you read some testimonials from 2008 participants in SLU's Leadership Training program. We want to partner with your school to train the next generation of Leaders for the Kingdom of God. Rockford Christian brought 46 people to SLU 101 this April. The students and chaperones were extremely impressed with the conference. Many of those students have already expressed interest in going to 201. The speakers made a huge impact on our kids. Our goal is to use our 101 leadership students to make an impact in our community and in our school. Thank you for your hard work with this project. Our school is grateful to be part of your ministry. Best wishes, Stephanie Calato Rockford Christian School
Hernando Christian Academy brought students from National Honor Society, Student Government and our student mentoring organization, the DREAM Team to SLU 101. Our students got practical ideas that they have already begun implementing back home. Not only does SLU 101 provide students with very usable ideas for school groups and organizations, it also helps students to develop spiritually, enabling them to enrich their leadership potential in their personal relationships. Upon completing SLU 101, the overwhelming response from our students was, “When is SLU 201, and where do we sign up?” It’s that good! Student Leadership has changed our student leaders which has changed our school. Ten students came back fired up, burning with the zeal of God and lead our school in a spiritual renewal the last few weeks of school. The Lord used them in the last two weeks of school to bring the entire school to a new spiritual awareness of the call of God for student leaders among this generation. The lessons at Sea World continue to be voiced and lived in their lives. We not only will return next year but have committed to make this a part of our school's Christian Honor Student Association requirement. Our schools need SLU. Thanks for a job well done and see ya next year. On to 201! What is learned helps our students to embrace the Great Commission the Great Commandment. Cheryl J. I have had the privilege of taking high school students to SLU 101, 201, and 301 over the past four years. I can say without a doubt that it has transformed each student involved. As I talked to a college student recently, who has attended all three, I was reminded of how the principles that were ingrained in her training is now serving her, as she seeks to live out her faith in college. Her work ethic and moral integrity is a reflection of parental love, academic and SLU leadership training. I recommend Student Leadership University as a key element in raising up a generation of Christian leaders who can and will impact their world for Christ. Do whatever it takes to raise the money, give the time, and encourage each of your students to attend SLU. Their dreams could be our only hope for a God-filled future. PS: (By the way I loaned them my car and paid for the gas myself so they could go this year). I believe in what you are doing with my whole heart. I hope you can continue this.
I highly recommend Student Leadership University to all schools. First Baptist Academy invested in a number of our middle school students to attend SLU in Orlando this last April. This was a grand event that kicked them up to a higher level of thinking and dreaming about how the Lord can use them. Since these students will be in our high school next year, we plan to lead them and release them to lead freshmen and middle school students in a mentoring program that we believe will affect change in the climate and culture of both schools using principles they learned in SLU International 101. PS: Thank you for the opportunity afforded to FBA to train student leaders. Keep on Keeping on!!!
I had the privilege of taking a group of twelve students to SLU 101 this past April in Orlando at the Student Leadership conference. My students are so on fire for what God's purpose for them is in relation to leadership that they have raised the money to now go to SLU 201 in Washington DC.
SLU 101 is an intense seminar put on by Jay Strack. The event lasted four days and included no less than 30 hours of leadership training comparable to training CEO's receive in the business world. We heard speakers like Dr. Daniel Akin, president of the Southeastern Baptist Seminary who taught us how to think like a Christian in a Counter-Christian Culture. We also heard from Ryan Bowman of Chic-fil-a who taught us how to be servant leaders. He used an illustration of an ice berg to depict the two dimensions of leadership which are skills and character. The absence of either will seriously flaw the process. Jay Strack took us to Sea World where he taught students the key to being a leader by uncovering how humans lead Shamu...they build relationships.
Already at Shiloh I am seeing a difference. This small group is starting their own student led worship time that they feel called to do as they seek a more authentic and personal relationship with their Lord and Savior. One student told me that he has a vision of starting a 4th-5th grade band program here at Shiloh...he is in the ninth grade. He not only had the vision but the steps laid out to complete this goal. They are each seeking out God's will in their lives as they lead others to Him.
With that in mind, I feel compelled to tell you that this training is a four part process. SLU 201 happens this July in Washington DC. Eleven out of the twelve 101 students want to return for part two. Here at Shiloh we hope to see this become a regular part what Shiloh offers each year to incoming 9th graders. I am working with Mr. Jones our administrator to set up leadership classes for our 7th-8th graders that would become a pre-requisite to this high school leadership training at SLU. Since our mission at Shiloh is to develop Godly leaders that engage their culture and change it, I can't think of a better program to help us achieve this goal! We want our students to lead with influence and intentionality. Sharing truth and serving others are results of a transformed life and that is what I am seeing from this conference.
If you are wondering if you should take a group from your school to this conference, the answer is YES! Teaching for Him Marla Richards Shiloh Christian School Fayetteville Ar
Twelve of my students attend the Leadership Conference in April. My students were so greatly impacted/challenged that six of them will be attending SLU 201 in Washington, D.C.. In their own words, this is what SLU 101 meant to them: - "really good for me because it showed me how to succeed at anything I try and to live according to God's standards. There were lots of great teachers to help guide us on our journey."
- "chance of a lifetime...I was blown away by how much I learned and the difference it made on me and my other friends. God spoke to us and now we want to learn more this summer in Washington, D.C."
- - "great experience for me...session after session of leadership training, communication...I left with a bigger outlook on what it is to be a true leader."
Hope this helps in encouraging other schools to participate. Tammy McCoy High School Principal Heartland Christian School Columbiana, Ohio
Your Student Leadership Conference provides the most outstanding training I have ever experienced. As an Assistant Principal of 10 years, I have received lots of training. The sessions at Student Leadership University far exceed any other training I have ever obtained. I heard you reinforce our family values to my daughter. It’s so nice for youngsters to hear such values from someone other than their parents. She and I look forward to more in the future. Thank you SLU for your Christian interest in today’s youth. As Christian educators, we hold a very powerful weapon in our hands. We have the ability to daily influence the hearts and minds of our students to live a passionate, purpose-filled life that will exalt and expand the Kingdom of God. This is accomplished by training them to be intellectual thinkers in the post-modern era and then putting them in leadership roles. Student Leadership University has been the #1 resource for us in achieving this goal. Through SLU, our students have been taught by some of the most influential speakers in the country. Our students came back from SLU with an overwhelming hunger for change, in our community and the world. Our staff has had to work extremely hard to keep up with the thirst for knowledge with which our students have returned. Student Leadership University is not a retreat or typical leadership conference; it is, by nature, a challenge to students to take the position of not just existing in a culture but engaging it and transforming it, based upon Biblical principles. I would strongly insist all Christian schools to consider sending their students to Student Leadership University. It challenges students to find their calling from God and to go out and change the world. Personally, I cannot wait to see what else God is going to do in the lives of my students, who were inspired by having the opportunity to attend Student Leadership University.
