Dr. Bruce Ashford

Dean, The College at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary

Bruce Riley Ashford received his B.A. in Communications from Campbell University and his Master of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. After two years overseas as a university instructor, he entered the Ph.D. program at Southeastern. In 2001, he began teaching adjunctively in The College at Southeastern and was elected to the faculty in 2003.

Currently, he holds the position of Associate Professor of Philosophy and Intercultural Studies. From 2005-2008 he served as the Director of the Lewis A. Drummond Center for Great Commission Studies, and in January 2009 Dr. Ashford accepted the position of Dean of The College at Southeastern. In addition to his teaching schedule, Ashford preaches for various denominations. He has also led numerous mission trips around the world. He has lectured, debated, or spoken on college campuses throughout the country and in Russia. He was a co-recipient of a creative teaching grant from Yale Divinity School’s Center for Faith and Culture. Ashford has also published articles with a number of academic journals.
